“…When people tell me about how much ‘soul’ or ‘love’ their bike has it makes me, as a frame builder, want to puke. I don’t care if you’re old or young, fat or skinny, experienced or pro, a fixed-gear commuter with fenders or bad-ass Record 10-speed guy on a Ti-carbon flame painted bike, its all good. People want to carry flags, the passion flag, or the technology flag, or the geek flag, but why not just a bike Flag. And I think people are starting to see that, that there are so many good reasons to ride and it doesn’t make sense to choose one and say it’s the only one, or it’s the one true reason. Hard core mountain biking to environmental activism through commuting to political activism to fitness. It’s all a good reason to ride. Some people ride for all those reasons or some of them, but I think one is enough.”

Fiddling through the pictures of my trip to SF in March, I found that I totally missed out on posting these taken at Mission Workshop. The big red warehouse-like workshop is quietly situated in the middle of an aisle, with space where bikes and car can be parked in front. All sorts of bags and apparels of Mission Workshop are hung on to steel tubes, in relaxed and casual plumber style. I was invited to take a sneak peek on the 2nd floor workshop where bags are repaired and Bicycle Coffee got packed in small bags ready to be delivered. With a big orange couch in the middle and coffee scent in the air, it’s obviously a great space to chill.
Not long ago Flwrider and Rodafixa were commissioned to find fixed gear riders in Hong Kong in filming of a TVC which would be aired in Ukraine and Kiev. Three super riders each with unique talents were invited – Dennis, Frankie and Alex. The TV version has been released. French director Antoine Manceaux will have a longer version of director’s cut soon. I expect more rad scenes will be exposed.
